I’ve been fishing now for not far off 20yrs, and the passion to catch carp is stronger than ever, even seems to get worse with age! I fish here in the UK all year round whatever the weather with my fishing partner & wife Debbie and go to France at least once a year. Carp fishing isn’t just a hobby for me, it is part of who I am and I’m so grateful that Debbie enjoys and shares the passion with me.
I have fished numerous syndicates around the south east, but over recent years we have added another dimension to our fishing by taking part in competitions. The first competition we took part in was a singles match; the first ever Ladies British Carp Cup in 2015, I was overwhelmed to have won this and equally pleased when Debbie came second last year. 2017 we took part in the first Ladies Carp Cup pairs competition and won. We made our first TV appearances on the Ladies British Carp Cups; being in front of the camera is something we would like to develop to give us another platform to promote and share our fishing with people.
We are also part of Ladies Carp Team England and fished the inaugural match in 2016 between England & Wales and won in our section.
I do prefer to fish syndicates / lakes with larger carp for my own personal fishing but size doesn’t always matter and I have been lucky enough to catch some carp that are unique and exceptionally beautiful in colour & scale patterns.
I’ve written some reviews & pieces for websites and a few magazines, even had a few pages in a book, writing is something I would like to do more of in the future. We also have our own website ‘Carpgirls’, which Debbie & I use to promote and share our fishing alongside social media.
I strive to push the ‘Carpgirls’ forward and our aim to be the very best as individuals and as a pair can be and I believe we achieve this in most cases.
We are quiet, thoughtful and unassuming anglers; but we can be wily as carp and have learnt a thing or two about fishing over the years, which hopefully our catches and competition wins prove.
Nothing rewards better than hard work and patience and I have that in abundance. I like to keep things simple yet effective and having confidence in your own abilities and bait lays the best foundations to achieve your goals.
