Dear Dave,
As you are aware, we have been using your excellent bait here at our club lake for approximately 18 months. During that time we have been extremely happy with the both the quality of the bait and the weight gains exhibited by our carp stock.
To give you a little back ground, a group of anglers took a lease on a local park lake in December 2008, for a period of one year. Having been assured by the local Council that we would be assured of a five year lease starting December 2009, we made a decision to begin a stocking program and purchased 14 carp from a local fish farmer (Willows Fish Farm).
These carp were a cross between the so called Leney strain and the Dinkelsbuehl strain, or Dink. We were informed that with the right food these fish would make good weight gains within a few months of stocking. At the time of stocking these fish ranged from 5lb to 7lb + and were all Mirror Carp. This small batch of carp were meant to enhance the older stock of carp, which had not shown much in the way of a weight gain for many years, probably due to the strains involved and the age of the fish.
During the hard winter of 2009 we made the decision to feed with a mixture of wheat and pellets. We fed at least twice a week from November through till February at a rate of approx 10kilo of wheat and 3 kilo of pellets, sometime’s having to break the ice on the lake to do so. With the better weather coming in early spring, anglers soon saw that the new stock fish had made small gains in weight or around a pound.
During the summer of 2010, I started using your excellent Pro- Biotic bait (now known as the Crabberry) and found it to be an excellent fish catcher, with me enjoying many good catches from our club water and other lakes around the area. In fact, I was so impressed with this bait that I kept up a regular twice weekly baiting campaign throught the summer and autumn of that year.
With the onset of another hard winter (2010/11) I decided thatwe would once more feed the lake over the winter but, this time we would substitute the pellets for the Pro-Biotic. Again, we fed wheat at around the same weight and I added around 2-3 kilo of boilie at every feeding. We fed the whole lake (or as much of it as was practicable) with the mixture and carried on right through until March of this year.
The carp fishing didn’t really come to much until around the beginning of April up here in North Wales owing, once more, to us having another hard winter. At around this time, a baiting team of six anglers began to purchase their bait from you, all of us using that self same Pro-Biotic . Almost immediately it became obvious that the winter feeding had paid dividends for us as Taff, caught a very recognisable mirror that had been stocked in November 2009 at 8lb 120z and had grown in weight to 12lb by the previous September. When caught for the first time after a hard and long winter, this fish tipped the scales at 14lb 140z, almost 3lb up over the course of the winter.
Since then we have seen other 2009 stock fish gaining somewhere between 1.5 and 3lb in weight over the same period. We think this is a remarkable difference from the previous year and can only attribute these weight gains to the inclusion of your bait into the winter feed. Another thing which has became obvious is that some of the older fish which rarely show any gains in their weight have also gained with one older linear mirror making a good pound gain from last year.
As the Chairman of Acton park Angling Club, I thought I should express the committee and members thoughts on your bait. Suffice it to say, everyone who is using your bait tells me it has become one of their all time favourite baits. It is pretty obvious that the fish think so too. On a personal note Dave, I would like to say how extremely pleased we are with the weight gains and the condition of our stock, much of which is obviously due to your excellent products.
Yours sincerely,
Martin Gregory
Chairman,
Acton Park Community Angling Club Dinkelsbuehl
